No, political candidates have to stop using an artist's song without checking with them first.
I can't figure out why in this day and age a politician would choose a song & risk being called out by the artist.
How long was the clip? Anyone can use a portion of any song as long as they don't go over a certain amount of time....if it's the entire song or a long portion of the song...then Sharon (not ozzy, my opinion) can tell them to stop it....
Remember Sharon was part of or is still part of one of those morning bash the right shows....

They don't even have to ask them. If the venue they are using paid for the rights to use songs they can use any of them on the list. It's just like bars, they pay a royalty company such as BMI and they are allowed to play whatever they want for whatever function they want and the artists can do nothing about it. All these cease and desists they issue are just publicity stunts.

Actually the "fair use" provision of a song, so you can use 10, 15, 30 seconds without permission is a myth. You can use as much of the song as will not get you sued, that might be all of it, or two notes (if those two notes are highly memorable and defining of the music track).
So the answer is they can't use a certain amount without risk of a law suit, you'll find out if you used less than necessary after the case is heard. Remember fair use is a legal defense, not a rule of law.

This is true. Ozzy and Sharon are just publicly stating that they do not like Trump and they are not giving him permission to use the song when in actuality they are receiving a royalty check for it.
If they really felt that upset about it why don't they donate the money that they make from the song to charity.....? or the election fund for Bernie? If any of the candidates is really crazy it is Bernie. but then again I suspect Bernie is more of a Simon and Garfunkle fan and he thinks Black Sabbath is when the power goes out on Saturday.....
