What will be their defense in court, we know we lied about the reason for the question on the census but now we’re being honest.

You need to go back to my post in this thread, and other threads regarding this census issue.
I posted an exact quote from the constitution that states the commerce secretary has the authority to run the census in "any form" he determines.
He did not need any reason to add the citizenship clause, other than he wanted it in there.
That is all he needed to say.
It should never have had to go to any court in the first place.
The constitution spells it out quite clearly.

Sounds like Trump is going to put the question on the census. Good. It has been asked in the past and it’s a perfectly logical thing to be on a Census.

People shouldn't be obligated to answer anything on the census, period.

You are and you aren't. There is a law in the US Code that says you must answer their questions when asked, or be fined. The law has hardly ever been enforced, and not since the 70s I think? So the law does exist, but isn't really enforced.

So yes, you are required to answer, but nobody really cares if you don't. I don't answer the census.
