Why do so many Americans think 1/4 of the US population is gay?
Because nowadays there is a gay character in every movie and TV show.

I thought it was around 10 percent but a google search is coming back at around 4 percent.

That seems probably about right. 25% seems absurdly high.

That was never my estimation but I certainly don't spend a great deal of time trying to do the math.

I never thought about it much before myself. I don't have any issues with gay people. I'm not bothered by gay people.

In general I also dislike social justice warriors who have to make everything into a political issue.
Thank you for being a sane and rational human being.

I think if you live in a larger metro area gay people probably don't have any real issues. I think if you start going to smaller little podunk towns with rednecks you might have more issues.

I agree on the SJW mentality that some people have. Every single issues doesn't have to be a battle of sorts.

I think we have 10% truly homosexual people in America and about 20% after you consider bisexuals and pansexuals. I think bisexuals are about 6/7% and pansexuals are about 3/4%. Many say maybe 5% due to studies, but I honestly think that is underreported. 20% is still not that large of the population and smaller than the OP's link.

You forgot to include the "Try-sexuals"; people that will try anything. Are you saying one in five are not traditional hetrosexuals?
