Well, guess the US is going to let companies sell to Huawei again, so maybe he wasn't quite as effective with this tactic as you think. Will have to see what the future holds.

Trump knows that he has no hopes of beating China with this trade war. The Chinese have seen through his two faced and three faced tactics. Huawei will not be defeated because it has chinas complete back8ng. So, either call off the stupid trade war against Hawaii or face real consequences.

Seems we are all going to have to start inserting the sarcasm tag, as I've seen several replies on various posts today where people were not quite getting the sarcasm.

Admittedly, China is probably the most two-faced country on Earth and its culture is a quagmire of dishonesty, which even the Chinese will admit (as long as they aren't trying to save face for their country), so they of all people should know it when they see it.
The goal was never to *stop* China, the goal was to remind it that the US can still profoundly damage and countermand its economy and influence if it sees fit. China was starting to believe its own hype and needed a black eye and a loss of face to bring it back to reality.
If Trump steps over into NK territory as he said he would so he could be the 1st US president to do so, what's to stop NK from kidnapping him and holding him hostage. His body guards won't have permission to cross the line.
Oh how we could pray for this scenario. The world would laugh him to death.
