How am I hating America if I don't want the flag to be desecrated?

For that matter, I'd say putting a flag on some sneakers (a commercial product) is trivializing the flag as well.

That's exactly what the entire Progressive (Democrats) movement has done, especially with Political Correctness and all their causes wrapped around IDENTITY POLITICS.

It is pure Bullying, and the Media, Education, Government and now CORPORATE AMERICA is leading, and supporting this Societal Bullying.

Get your facts straight.
It would be a good thing if those conservatives would read the flag code. I was stunned at the photo of George Bush autographing an American flag.

I work out in cheapo shorts and metal/punk t-shirts...so none of this means crap to me. But if it means something to others, there are alternatives and I pointed one out.

I think all the flag code crap is just that...pure crap. It's a symbol, not the actual stone tablets of the 10 Commandments. If you want to respect it like some religious institution, go hug your flag and keep it clean & pristine in some vacuum sealed case. If you don't give a rat's arse and want to diss Trump (meaningless as it is to that guy), then light the flag on fire and have a party. I DON'T CARE.

But no need to get spun up about Nike when the easiest way to "hurt" them is to simply buy from their competition. Done.
You don't get it do you? The ones citing the flag code for the whole anthem crap don't follow it themselves. I refer to them as "American idiots." Because they are just that. Americans and they are idiots about how American they are. Trump is the biggest of these IMHO. And I listen to punk and metal myself, don't change if I should be American or not.

The Confederate flag, yeah, I would agree.

But the Betsy Ross.

Just wow.

Socialism in action.

Nike is running scared of backlash from the far left.

Intimidation is the way socialism keeps control.

Nike caved because they believe the way of the future will be directed by social justice going mainstream and enforced by their official media propaganda machine.

If nike caved , what chance does an individual have in the face of the socialist takeover. No room for dissent in the world of socialist democrats and their media battering ram.

nothing to do with style of shoe as the style of anything has its advocates and those who find it repulsive.

fluorescent lime green, shoes with flashing lights have a large market sufficient for Nike to supply, these red/white and blue shoes appear quite conservative and honor the founding of our country and would have had a sufficient market as apparently Nike so thought, as it had to do marketing studies before it was intro'd.

Nike made a huge mistake.

In 1968 Abbie Hoffman was tried and convicted for wearing a shirt with the American flag on it.

Only time can tell.

Personally, I think anyone trying for biggest market share is dumb to potentially alienate any segment of the market, especially when the move is almost always made to try and cement the loyalty of some other segment, given the fickle nature of brand and ideological loyalty. Being friendly to the entire market, which is normally apolitical and neutral, is the best way to go.
The problem is people on both sides want companies to politicize these days. We live in a weird tike that people are criticized for not choosing which side of the aisle is their home team. I mean Taylor Swift was crapped on for not siding politically until last year. Now I know, people would rather politics be secondary to the brand or celebrity, but it simply often is due to the side they take in an issue. I don't hate Kid Rock or Ted Nugent for picking to be conservative, more to the point the way they go about it. I don't like how far to the left some go too to be fair.
