Very interesting story. Ships have an innovative way of getting around the sanctions.

Quote:
”As the Trump administration’s sanctions on Iranian oil and petrochemical products have taken hold, some of the world’s shipping fleets have defied the restrictions by “going dark” when they pick up cargo in Iranian ports, according to commercial analysts who track shipping data and intelligence from authorities in Israel, a country that backs the Trump crackdown.”

Wish I could remember the specifics, age and wine have taken their toll.

Right after the 6 day war, we were at a dinner party full of oil company geologists. I said something about how Israel would have trouble getting petroleum products.

In unison they all busted out laughing. Then proceeded to give me a tutorial on how a war may be going on but as far as the oil trade goes, it was business as usual.

Killing each other's sons while still being trading partners tells me nobody has any principles or ethics.

That article does not say that. But the NYT does try to get the hapless Trump hater to think this. It's how they make money off the easily influenced.

The sanctions do not state that a company can't do business with Iran. But it does state that the USA will take action if they discover that they have. The NYT did not address it.

I feel bad for people who still read tripe from this rag and then try to push a false narrative day after day.

Lol...yeah, I suspected as much. The world has an insatiable appetite for oil. I figured that Iran could get around the sanctions.

Wish I could remember the specifics. IIRC, Iran was knee deep in circumventing sanctions and boycotts. But they no longer have the Shah and the CIA.

Nonsense. The sanctions don't say that Iran can't sell oil.

This is what the loss of soft power looks like.
