Peter Yarrow...
Quote:
...of the 1960s folk group Peter, Paul and Mary has been disinvited from a music festival to be held in upstate New York this fall...
Yarrow was sentenced to three months in jail in 1970 for taking “indecent liberties” with a 14-year-old girl after she and her 17-year-old sister went to his hotel room in Washington in 1969 to ask for an autograph and Yarrow answered the door naked.
As he was repentant, and worked tirelessly in support of many good causes...
Quote:
Former President Carter pardoned Yarrow in 1981 the day before Ronald Reagan succeeded him in the Oval Office.
But this is 2019...

Pretty common, actually. I think it was well knows that Jimmy page liked 14 year old girls. Of course there is Gary Glitter, Michael Jackson, etc. This one actually seems a bit tame. Did he know that a 14 year old was going to be on the other side of the door?

Problem is that that same ****bag leftists who claim to be driving Mettoo# and all of that turn around and defend the Polanskis, Yarrows, and Pages of the world. Most recent example was that piece of human feces Barbara Streisand talking about Michael Jackson's "sexual needs." Let's stop giving some people get-out-of-jail free cards because they are famous.

This wouldn't have happened two years ago. Is the world a better place now that an elderly musician from an ancient, beloved folk band can be condemned and kept from performing due to sexual misbehavior that occurred 49 years ago?

Quite interesting, as this means nobody can ever be redeemed, even after they’ve completed their sentence. He probably never dreamed that this incident would still be haunting him and affecting his life almost 50 years later.

Spare me. Peter, Paul and Mary were huge liberals in the 1960s. Mary's dead but the other two are still politically active liberals.

One of your fellow conservatives just called Barbara Streisand "a piece of human feces". Peter, Paul and Mary just slightly preceded her as celebrity activists. Why defend them?

As usual, cons want to have it both ways.

well, they arent going after him for what happened 49 yrs ago, they are using that as an excuse to target him TODAY, probably for being a staunch liberal TODAY.

This has become just a tactic nowadays, no one really cares about these incidents from ancient times, its all due to their current political leanings, and a way they can punish them or make them squirm a little bit.

So your theory is that the people running the "Colorscape Chenago Arts Festival" which disinvited Yarrow are arch-conservatives out to get him for his politics?

I wonder what a 1970 version of #MeToo would look like!

Sounds like freedom of association and freedom of movement on display.

Capitalism ain't for the lazy or the sulkers.

Get your hussle on folks.
