Huh, did you read the article here is a quote :

Quote:
“A typical black family has just $10 of wealth for every $100 held by a white family,” she said. “So we must right that wrong and, after generations of discrimination, give black families a real shot at homeownership — historically one of the most powerful drivers of wealth in our country.

Plus, aren’t some of you guys complaining about these people not being able to afford mortgages? What’s the issue?
Simple, if a person can not afford a down payment and closing cost for a house they should remain renters. Does that make sense?

I did read it. I get that it will help black families, but are white people disqualified?

I disagree. There are plenty of programs that help people with down payments and closing costs. Many people use those programs and successfully pay their mortgages. Many buyers ask the sellers to pay their closing costs, and the buyers successfully pay their mortgages.

I am not seeing the issue.

This is how we got into the last recession to begin with. No money down. Loans to people that didn't qualify, basically give you money if you have a pulse. We as a collective have really short memories.

Unless I don’t understand the program, it’s not providing mortgages to the unqualified.

Do you take issue with all down payment and closing cost assistance programs?

From her own mouth.

“By taking these challenges on… that not only lifts up black America, that lifts up all of America,” the presidential candidate said in her speech at Essence Festival

And of course redlining is all about race too.

Of course a bill being written could not exclude whites or any other race because that would be discrimination and we have laws against that. I hope people are not eating this nonsense up because it is nothing but pure pandering for votes and you know it. Anybody that thinks she will do this if she is POTUS is a imbecile.

Well, that’s why I asked. People are claiming the program is race-based.

It’s not.

Just because a program helps black people doesn’t mean it’s not also beneficial to whites.

It sounds like it will help blacks and anyone else in need.
