Marijuana has never been about medicine. There were marijuana derived medicines long before this new push. But those don’t get you high. The whole point of the medical marijuana push is to allow more people to get high without fear of prosecution.
Because the fascist model was applied to marijuana that most Americans mistaken for the free market and legalization. The leaders draft bills sometimes with the intention that it will bring cash into their campaign coffers. Case in point, my state has like 10 doctors that can issue marijuana cards so a person can go and buy marijuana from one of the 10 stores.
So you have doctors and those seeking a license to sell passing out campaign contributions hand over fist so they can be the chosen 10. The chosen ones have made a good investment by filling the coffers of the leaders, they all have a territory notched out and do not have to worry about competition. All this applies to the growers where only 10 are certified by the state and other weed growers are going to prison.
In most cases legalization of marijuana is done with the Mussolini model of fascism " co operation between corporations and the state ". The leaders palms were greased, the doctors had a new patient flow, a certified store sold marijuana, and only certain growers grew. The average pot smoker is thrilled to participate in this fake free market model because he can buy weed that is 29% THC.

Yes medical marijuana like Dronabinol or Marinol do "get you high" and are only mildly effective at increasing appetite, that's about it.
The issue with medicines derived from marijuana is the loss of components that make Marijuana effective in the first place. Marijuana carries over 100+ different types of cannabinoids and terpenes, most medications derivatives contain at most 15 different cannabinoids hence why children with epilepsy have to smoke it or vape it, pills don't work. Pressed oil and resin works well also if smoking is not a option. Can always add to food or other products again if smoking is not a option. This is very important when providing care for children and elderly as adding to food is simple and easy for caretakers to understand.
Currently most marijuana pills provide THC and CBD at high levels but contain little to none of the other factors that give marijuana its medicinal properties, so you get hungry and tired but not much in pain relief or reduction in inflammation or seizure activity.

My friend who died of cancer smoked pot because it alleviated the pain he had in his legs which was bad enough that he used a walker in the last couple weeks he was alive.

I know people who don't drink or like to get high and they are happy to have weed help them with their medical issues, and it works.

So? A person doesn't need a prescription to get high on alcohol. I bet you think that's horrible too, right?

I admit that some people abuse medical marijuana because they want to get high, but it legitimately helps some people. My ex has severe stomach pains and only a specific strain of marijuana helps him. Marinol, the THC pill developed by the pharmaceutical companies that you are referring to, does nothing for him. His only other option is opiates. He was all the way up to fentanyl before switching to marijuana. It also has to be a specific strain (not any strain will work) and therefore getting it off the street won't do.
Would you really rather people use opiates than marijuana?

It is a bad thing. Just because we have people with alcohol problems doesn’t mean we should create more people with drug problems. DUI, violence, psychosis, cancer, and scromitting are all bad things.
