Agnostics are clearly afraid to take the next step and say there is no god that will give me this magical existence when I die. Why would anyone believe in god? I guess for the same reason people believe in Santa Claus?
My issue isn't with most garden variety atheist that have a live and let live attitude towards others
It's with atheists extremists/activists (example: the freedom from religion types) and keyboard commandos who are usually just as annoying and self righteous as any Bible thumper.
Then you have a beef with AntiTheists, who are against religion. Atheists simply don’t believe in a God. Not all atheists are AntiTheists.
Simply being an atheist does not speak to one’s position on religion as a whole.
I would think that most Atheists realize that the South (generally) is the most religious part of the country. You're going to get some sort of reaction.
I grew up in the South. In my town, Athiests putting up such a banner would run the risk of being physically beaten. Not saying it's right, just "the way it was".
I don't agree with damaging other people's property, but I also don't think it's right to display messages that are intended to offend and upset the majority of the community. Cmon, atheists didn't need this banner. They believe in nothing so they don't have a message.

They just wanted to tick off Christians.
And how is it not offensive to have Christian billboards in places like San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, and LA? We are some of the most godless people in the US.

I think it's more likely that they believe that religious beliefs should be private, not plastered on currency, like cheesy advertising.

Maybe Agnostics don't care to take the time to worry over it?

The message was "we are having an educational seminar called In No God We Trust here's where to get info if you want to come to it". Did you click on the link to see the banners?
The banners literally read:
In No God We Trust
Educational Seminar

It was only intended to offend and upset if you accept the premise that it is inherently offensive to not believe in a god and that people who do not believe in a god should pretend not to exist to avoid upsetting people.

If they rented a billboard it’s obvious that they believe in God and are just looking for him in their own way. If they didn’t believe they would be completely indifferent.

I disagree with your assessment on this issue, atheists are just trying to open your eyes with their billboards to show people that they don’t have to be afraid of an afterlife, because it doesn’t exist anyway.
