Get rid of DHS and make it like it used to be?

That isn't what AOC is saying. She's saying to abolish DHS, CBP, and ICE! CBP and ICE would go right back to Treasury.

What a loon she is. I didn't think she could become even more of a dolt, yet she managed. It's scary how many people back her nonsense up. Probably because these cave dwellers and basement boffo's think she's hot.
So Republicans demand government should be made smaller at the federal level. How did we get along without ICE, DHS, CBP before they were ever created? Just fine. No, Originalist, you're all out WRONG, no doubt. AOC is certainly no loon.

Get rid of the TSA, but beef up ICE.

I held this position long before she did.

DHS didn't exist before 9/11 and has only accelerated America's transition to a police state (have you been through an airport recently?).

So I'd be all for abolishing it.

Duties such as immigration enforcement would simply fall back under the Department of Justice while airport security would go back to being contracted out by the FAA.

Are you intentionally being obtuse? ICE and CBP were functions under INS prior to DHS. Talk about stepping on a rake.

At this point, the wise thing is to do the opposite of what she is calling for.

Great thread for anyone who ever questioned GOP/conservative dedication to downsizing the fed govt.

You don't downsize things that are necessary. You can downsize that second luxury car but you shouldn't downsize that security system in your house against intruders.

The GOP is the level headed adults here. I feel very safe when they are running things. Can't say the same about those looney Leftist Democrats.

Thank you. From what I see, there is very little unnecessary govt in the eyes of a typical GOP'er/conservative...well unless it's the dems are pulling the levers. One need never wonder how the fed govt got so big. with a two party system.
