It's really a shame ...

I have found that people who support socialism and socialist based solutions to common economic problems of iniquity almost always have a far better understanding of the workings of capitalism than the average person.

What you are lamenting is a lack of brainwashing, which is not the proper function of a good school.

My experience with people have found the opposite is true, that people who don't really understand capitalism are the ones that are all for socialism.

To be fair, I have also found that people who don't understand socialism are the loudest of people opposed to it.

I'm a capitalist myself, but I believe in a healthy combo of both capitalism and socialism for society to thrive.

Again.. just to drive the point home.

Social programs is not Socialism...

The young generation talking about Socialism, DO NOT mean the state should own the means of production and no private industry!
They mean Social programs to help the needy!

Just a tiny tiny tiny fractions of Democrats or anybody wants the government to control everything.
Just as a tiny tiny tiny fraction of Republicans want no government and free for all.

In the USA we have a mixed economy and I think that works best. Tweaking a little bit one way or the other would be fine. Large changes, not necessarily a good thing.

For the most part the changes being sought are just extensions of what we already have.

In the US we have capitalism for the masses and socialism for corporations, banks, and the wealthy.
Yet we still have people that believe that capitalism is for the greater good of all. What's good for the top dogs should also be good for all the dogs.

Some day, maybe, people will wake up and realize that they were born into a system that defines them as debt slaves. They are born into debt and will die in debt.

If the overlords educated children with the truth their rule would come to a grinding halt.

I have found that most people that I encounter that support socialism don't actually know what socialism is and are really supporting capitalism with a stronger social safety net.

Socialism is:
Quote:
1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
