...where Nancy Pelosi is accused of being a Republican, or Justin Amash being accused of being a Democrat.

The medievalists, who subscribe to "might equals right" and have no morals except power, are winning. Liberal democracy is at stake.

I hope you're not actually defending Pelosi, after all that would also make you racist.

Both Republican and Democrat parties are authoritarian right on the spectrum. In reality very little difference between them.

"...who subscribe to "might equals right" and have no morals except power"

That's basically what us anarchists are always arguing against on here. Politicians want power, and the people who vote them into power do so because they want those politicians to impose their views on everyone else. They just hide behind the idea of democracy, as if it's no longer "might makes right" if you have the majority on your side and you had a very official election process.

But as for the first part, it has to do with people being so tribal with their political parties. "You're either with us, or you're against us" and if you don't tow the party line, you get labelled whatever the "enemy" is.

I've been labelled both a left wing SJW Democrat and an alt-right Trump-supporting Republican...sometimes in the same day. They lump you into one or the other. You get attacked from all sides if you say you're for open borders but no welfare state, for example.

Not true. The Republican platform hasn't changed since Reagan, or maybe even Goldwater. The Democrats have gone extremely far left. Now the put foreign, illegal aliens, and radical special interests over American Citizens and taxpayers. Not cool.

I wear it as a badge of honor considering the source of the claim.

Isn't AOC great? Her and Omar are a couple of the biggest loons in the US. Thankfully, they are dem representatives and are helping to destroy the party from within.

Let's hope for more AOC and Omars among the dems in the future.

Because the base of each party is unhinged.

Exactly why we need as many laws as possible to reduce the power of the parties.
Constitutional amendment to.
Term limits
No lobbying by ex congresscritters, forever
No money tours (speeches) for two years after leaving
Money is the amplification of speech, not speech, and can be limited.
End all partisan gerrymandering. Per se illegal.

I would love to also see
Ranked choice voting with instant runoff
non partisan ballots

The republicans are still for a balanced budget as they were under Obama, no change??

I do agree that a segment of the democrats have gone too far left, AOC and her gang are wrong on this one. Other than the budget the republicans have moved right with Trump taking over the party. That's we have such a divide, moderates are in short supply.

Totally agree, but the Establishment Republicans and Democrats are complicit with this along with TRUMP. Totally irresponsible, and he need to stop signing these ridiculous budgets Congress gives him. But then when he resists, the Democrats cry that "Trump and the Republicans are shutting down Government" and create panic. The MEDIA repeats it and cause people to freak out by stating lies.

I don't see what Trump has done so far, or wants to do as "Far Right".
