If you don't have facts or logic on your side, making stuff up is always an option.
Politicians and candidates have always been fair game. Why is this any different? No one has issues calling Trump or Hillary or AOC names or saying probably not true things about them. This guy opened the door with his stupid policy made public and people have now speculated on ACTUAL reasons for this weird pact he has with his wife. Because it’s so abnormal and sounds so stupid. They could be wrong, they could be right. Who cares? If this dude refuses to be alone with women ever, he’s gonna get some backlash in many forms. It’s part of the game.

So again, how's it going to work out if I tell my boss that I refuse to have any unchaperoned interactions with her?

And for that matter, how do you see things if women in the workplace refuse to have any individual interactions with men? Bet you think a male boss asking for a chat with his female subordinate is totally kosher and not to be refused. Why the double standard? Based on any historical evaluation, women probably had more reason to fear in these situations than men did.
It's working perfect for me. And I will perfectly understand a woman that does not want to be alone with a man.

Making stuff up is 'part of the game' now? OK, you might just be right. I wouldn't be surprised if they're teaching it in journalism 101.

False accusations of impropriety can do a lot more damage to men in the age of #metoo.

We recently had a case in Bellevue, WA (Seattle suburb of about 100,000 pop) where several Bellevue police officers, including the chief, were falsely accused of rape by a woman with mental issues. One of the cops went to jail for (IIRC) 4 months before being cleared. He ended up losing his career anyway. The chief was put on paid leave before being cleared.

Naw, no damage. You've got to break eggs to make an omelet, amirite??

Ok, so why the problem with a no 1 on 1 policy?

It's safer for women and eliminates the potential for false accusations.

Would you bash a woman for not wanting to be 15 hours alone with a man? I know I would not. So why are you doing it to men?
It's very sad.
If a female politician would refuse an interview with a man that she would give to a woman, yes I would say the same.

If as a politician you have the mindset that you will not allow others to do their job, you need to find another line of work.
