I know our natural tendency is to shy away from difficult news, but, keeping in mind our participation in Yemen, do you rememberer the little Yemeni girl, Amal Hussain, who was showcased, dying from hunger?
This is horrid. The sad fact that we do get skinny young kids dying from hunger even on American soil shows me that we could be putting even more resources into combating poverty and hunger in this country.

We support a couple of kids (one from Africa and another from Honduras) through the catholic church. With this kid being photographed, was she just too far gone to help? If not, one would think that there would have been a large influx of cash to help.
That's beyond heartbreaking. It reminds me of a photo taken by the late Kevin Carter. He took a photo of a toddler in Sudan who was so weak she dropped, and just beyond her was a vulture waiting.
Iconic photos like these are hard to look at and impossible to forget.
This one person has no more value than the rest. I find it interesting that the corporate media is negatively reporting on the Yemen war.
There was originally a black out, and then in 2017 reporting started. I don't think it had to do with Trump, but its interesting. They could have focused on Houthis war crimes and kept blame away from our government.
They didn't so something must have changed. Perhaps the elite don't see the Yemen war as geopolitically beneficial. Maybe they want Saudi Arabia to be contained. Maybe they want to keep the current conflict stable.
Anyways its interesting.
To those who think they care about this girl, please don't. You're not helping.
There are enough suffering in your own communities, you don't need to participate in international humanitarianism as a first world hobby.

I often wonder that, whether an article ever helps a particular person, since so many articles illustrate a problem by focusing on one individual.
