These are EVA suits, not personal items for daily use tailored to each astronaut.The women have no problem using them.

NASA tends to employ people who specialize. It's not as if they show up and say "I kinda feel like doing propulsion today, anyone up for it?" And if you're a highly-trained specialist in equipping the crew with the necessities for spaceflight, yet have no clue regarding women's plumbing, then you may just work in an organization with a slight gender bias.

Now comes the bit where we compare humanity's knowledge of lunar microbiology in the 1960s with humanity's knowledge of the female reproductive system in the 1980s and point out what a ridiculous comparison you just made. (Actually, that bit should probably have happened before you posted.)

So? It’s not shocking a man might be ignorant of how many tampons women use during a period. In fact, I suspect until they actually had women in space they had no idea what the effects of zero gravity would even have on that issue.

It just seems petty to worry about an over abundance of something when it would be far worse to not have enough to fulfill their needs.
