As someone who finds "offensive" humor hilarious (you should see some of my t shirts), I fully support using humor that doesn't rely solely on making fun of other people.

It seems like people don't know how to be funny without going for stereotypes and snarky cheap shots anymore.

Here we go again with some pathetic person complaining and now the plates will be banned for everyone. I though they were cute and if you don’t like them don’t buy them or use them. This seems to be the main thing today. One person is upset and cancels or bans everything for others. But yet when the shoe’s on the other foot it doesn’t work for the rest of us. Like banning Halloween and Christmas parties because two students in the school are offended. Or one trans kid is in the school so now all the bathrooms are shared.

Store feared antifa would burn the place to the ground so they caved.

Bingo! Macy's capitulated much too quickly. That's disappointing.

I hop the plates can be sold elsewhere-hopefully a store that values everyone's tastes

I can't wait until all the Christmas movies are pulled because of the jokes about Santa's weight.

Macy's brand got massive, free, front page, media publicity for discontinuing the sale of silly food plates that offended some (likely fat) SJWs. I think Macy's management took a marketing strategy page from Nike's management for pulling the betsy ross flag merchandise which resulted in lots of news coverage.

Look for more brands to pull similar SJW v Conservative stunts in the future!

Here are a few great responses from the website comments section

Here's an idea- if you don't like it, don't buy it. Why you feel your opinion is more important than others is stunning. Liberals are very good at one thing...being offended and banning what they don't agree. You don't have to like the plate. The problem lies with you thinking because you find it offensive, no one should be able to buy it. You expecting (more like forcing) people to follow your worldview is sickening. It's pathetic. If you don't like it, DON'T BUY IT. Don't push your views on other people. It will come back to bite you, hard. Life isn't fair and someone will always be offended. Only liberals think their viewpoint is more important than others. Don't tell me what to be offended by and when. You might just find yourself on the other end of that someday. And I guarantee you will act like a child and throw a tantrum when it does.

These plates were meant to be humorous, not insulting. Macy should have held their ground and Insisted as such. People don't have to buy the plates if they're offended, right? Save the outrage for real tragedies; there are so many I would run out of characters listing only the most obvious.

I agree actually. I have a small online T-shirt store which contains a lot of sarcastic shirts and snide humor, and I don’t target any stereotypes when designing them. These plates didn’t really stereotype anyone in a negative way, though. They were meant to be a humorous method of portion control, and would have been perfectly fine if it weren’t for nitwits that get offended over the slightest thing.

Yup.
Gets old.
I think they really had to stretch to be offended this time.

Perhaps you should educate yourself about eating disorders.

And not knowing that "throwing fat in there" doesn't begin to cover the scope of eating disorders seems willfully dismissive.

Many eating disorders such as anorexia - and those plates surely could trigger behaviors in someone with anorexia - have their roots in mental health. Do you shame people with mental health disorders, too?
