Actually the 8 years of Obama's failed presidency proves your point. Trump has done remarkably well considering the childish and vicious antics of the "loyal opposition."
No, public service is not a professional career. This thinking is what has lead us into an overdeveloped society with extreme traffic, corporate monopolization, bloated government, foriegn entanglements, and social/cultural decline.
People aren't allowed to choose what type of society they want. They are told by the professional class the 5g networks, off shoring, and drones are necessary.
They don't give people a choice. Career politicians are people who appreciate gamesmanship and networking. This may work for the private sector, but for public service there is more at stake than how best to maximize political capital. They now 70% of tax revenue comes from the top 10% income bracket so to maximize political capital they promote corporate investment and subsidies regardless of the external affects on a community or our social well-being
Society is not a business start-up, it is a group of people that deserve a say in what type of world they want to live in. Trump himself doesn't run his government, he has bureaucrats who do the work.
The same privileged bureaucrats who allowed corporate wealth to be transferred off-shores, lead to the financial crisis, and supported lowering wages in Haiti and Honduras for cheap labor causing the immigration crisis at our border.
If you want better leadership you need to equate for what people truly want, not what the professional class thinks is best, and that involves factoring in kindness and and a more humble approach to power.
Sadly most of the electorate have been convinced elections are a job application in corporate America.
Political elitism is not good for the governance of our country.
When you see politics as a career with different services and promotions you promote public corruption.
Politicians who are political careerist know that tax revenue is needed to keep special interests and public-private partnerships useful. 70% of tax revenue comes from the top 10% income earners so politicians naturally promote corporate investment and favor imperialist policies.
Having someone dedicated to morality over maximizing political capital will do this country some good. We have been over-saturated with think-tanks, non-profits, and academic staffing of public service.
Public service is not a professional career, it is the wielding of public power. We need less professionalism and more kindness in our politics.
It isn't elitism--it is pragmatism.
She has no experience with governing, or in government. We are living that experiment, and it is a disaster having someone with no grasp of the law, US or world history, civics, government or the constitution.
Because I don't know much about her personal life, and after watching the current ***show in DC, I want to know how large her extended family is, and if she intends to let them govern, as well.
I will say she appears to be much more intelligent than Trump, but that can be said for many. She certainly has a lot of supporters or a couple of wealthy ones, as she has taken in a great deal of money.
I think it was a great interview. Most democrats and republicans disregard her because she is not from the professional political class.
She is not a media product that plays well with partisan policy goals, nor is she an academic elite.
Of course in our meritocratic system we have allowed our political class to pursue deeply immoral methods and become obsessed with power.
I knew she had value once the media and political establishment treated her like a joke.
Remember, people who wield power have no interest in limits to that power by a population that is not locked out because of some perceived educational prerequisite to discussing politics or questioning imperial foriegn policy.
She is entirely a media product.
And, clue for you - it isn't just the media and politics establishments that think she is a joke.

lol As if government can be moral. By it's very definition it is immoral. That has proven time and time again. How about we get someone to defend rights and leave morals to society. A society that doesn't solve problems with force and coercion.
She's a little too "new age-y" for the average person.
