my guess is it's going to come down to exactly where was the 15 year old when she was consuming the drinks. all-ages venues that sell alcohol usually have some system in place concerning minors/adults and alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks ( different glasses, wristbands, hand stamps etc ). if she was consuming these drinks in sight of cruise employees i could see the cruise line getting popped for liability.

This is the crucial question; what's the cruise line's policy regarding passengers considered "underage" in the US for drinking.

Yes, they do and the age depends on where the ship originated. She was underaged regardless.
Ok on one hand some folks think that a 12 year old girl should have complete autonomy when it comes to their body if they want an abortion. The next they are saying that a cruise ship should be held accountable because the 15 yearly girl, traveling with her grand parents, decided to play adult, got drunk and was raped by members of the crew?
15 is not 12 and yet less responsibility? The grand parents should be charged for neglect. The men responsible for raping the girl should be arrested and charged. The cruise line is not at fault. Not unless they were completely aware that these men were sexual predators and hired them anyway.
Sorry but the girl and her grand parents own her getting drunk. The rapists own the rape. I bet grandma and grandpa let the girls have their own room too.
I travel a lot and see it all the time. Parents and grand parents expect hotel staff to play baby sitter for them while they go out and play. They leave their children unattended at pools. Some 5 or 6 years old. In contrast with the locals who won't even allow their children in the pool unless they are in the water with them. Let alone disappear and leave them completely unattended.
It depends on the facts. Bartenders can be held liable for continuing to serve someone who is visibly intoxicated. If she was, in fact, in their view and they continued to serve men who they saw were taking her drinks, the cruise ship could be liable. The question also is whether they checked her ID. It seems a bit harder for the Plaintiff to prove but we don’t have all the facts.
Give them another free cruise and do what they did to Bin Laden.
