The big problem here is that should he be forced to resign or fired for decade old tweet? If the individual made the comments he said now. That is understandable especially since we are in this social, political and cultural climate and moral panic at this moment. I don't support his comments since it has a violent message to it, however the comments are a decade old. Sadly wrong think do not have stuate of limitations like criminal codes have.
It remains to be seen if CNN will be honest with its audience about this matter and any internal investigations into it. CNN has a history of covering up resignations of people involved in scandals in its organization. In 2017, three senior CNN officials resigned amid a fake news story on the Russia probe–and CNN has still not answered a series of questions about the matter and has not published, as is the ethical standard for organizations purporting to publish news content, its findings of the internal investigation into the publication of that fake news.
CNN spokespersons have not replied to requests for comment when asked who hired Elshamy, how these comments were not found during his hiring process when they were publicly available at that time, whether anyone else will be held accountable for the severe missteps in vetting of CNN staff, and whether CNN will be conducting a review of other staff for antisemitic comments or a review of CNN’s published content in which Elshamy had a role.
CNN is moderating the Democrat presidential primary debates next week in Detroit, Michigan, on Tuesday and Wednesday evening. It is unclear if rising antisemitism on the left is a topic that CNN will address in questions to Democrat presidential candidates. At this stage, network spokespersons have not answered whether such rising antisemitism–as displayed by Democrat Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) in particular–is off-limits at the debate in the wake of the Elshamy resignation.

If only he would have said “white pigs” instead. Hardly anyone would have blinked an eye and he’d still be employed.
Look at the bright side- he can go to work for the squad now.

So I went and read your linked article and found it bizarre.
The comments were made in 2011, but the alt-right is simply outraged that CNN is not giving out details regarding the personnel and the HR Department now?
Hey alt-right outraged people---this is the best you can come up with? 2011? That's when Trump was picking up Playmates and porn stars. How come you aren't outraged? Oh--too long ago?

A CNN photo editor tweeted crap 8 years ago and CNN terminated him. How is this indicative of anything beyond the photo editor’s personal statement at a point in time?
What does this have to do with the next Democrat debate?
A lot of anti-Semitism on the left, but conservatives are the nazis.
There is a Nazi in Illinois who is a perennial Republican candidate for the House of Representatives. It is a solid Democrat District and the GOP does not invest in a candidate to primary him out. Despite his ideology and run as a Republican, he is not representative of the Republican Party. He does manage to get a few thousand votes, likely from those who vote straight ticket.
We have gotten to the point now that the first thing some media does after a mass shooting is to link the shooter to a political party.

Seems awfully hypocritical.
Employers are under no obligation to publicly disclose the details of employee terminations/ resignations. Doing so is an open invitation to a wrongful termination suit.
