Has Trump called a town in Appalachia a "dump"? Have we all missed that? That's one of his strong voting bases, so no, no matter how dumpy and meth riddled it is, I don't believe he's called them a "dump".
And a follow up question, has another sitting president ever - ever - called an American city "a dump"?
I don't recall a sitting President calling a city a dump. There was a newspaper headline stating Ford told NYC to drop dead when he refused to bail them out of bankruptcy. However, those words were never uttered by Ford.
Candidate Obama in 2008 denigrated folks in rural PA by stating they "cling to their guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them".
I do recall a Democratic Presidential candidate, Jessie Jackson, calling NYC "hymie town" due to the large number of Jews living there. It hasn't seemed to affect his career as a professional race agitator.
Seems like Trump was talking about the conditions of a city: dirty, not maintained, poor infrastructure, but the Democratic nominees mentioned here were talking directly about the people of the city.
Its not. And the narrative that criticizing someone who happens to be black is somehow racist needs to be forcefully rejected.
But as I've mentioned before, we're seeing these lies of racism by the Dems as they are hoping to anger enough black people to increase their voter turnout in 2020, the division they are causing to the country be damned. What a sick and twisted way to try to achieve your political goals.
That is actually their game plan. They figure that if they scare enough black people into thinking the other side are all racists, combined with promises of making whites give them reparations and housing downpayments, they will get enough turnout to win the election. They are using black people like pawns, all the while doing nothing to lift them out of poverty. In the meantime, Trump's business-friendly environment (overdone regulations under Dems were strangling small businessss, from which most new jobs are created) have resulted in the lowest black unemployment rate in history.

Agreed-
The dems are simply using their usual leftist hysteria to criticize someone for telling the truth. Truth is the enemy of the left, and they will fight tooth and nail to use PC language and intimidation to suppress the truth.
The left ignores the plight of the condition of dem cities so that they are then free to do nothing. If they admitted the truth, one would expect action from them. There will be no action forthcoming.

Agree. Calling NYC "Hymie town" is blatant anti-semitism. Calling a city a "a dump" has nothing to do with race.
And speaking of Jackson's bigotry, did anyone object when he said that when he's walking down a dark street at night and turns around to see who'se behind him, he's relieved it's a white guy instead of black guy? Nothing racist about that, actually. It's simple statistics.
Why are illegal immigrants a bigger issue several thousand miles from the border? Baltimore’s issues are decades old, and trying to connect it to illegals is a pretty weak play. If someone wanted to play a race card, it would land better blaming the blacks who have been in Baltimore far longer.
But the thing is, the moms, parents, etc. would rather have been out of the violence entirely. Baltimore cops have policed the same crimes in the same places for decades.
I don’t see the border connection.
Cummings made the connection by putting ILLEGAL ALIENS over the horrid conditions of HIS OWN DISTRICT. That's the connection. His PRIORITIES. One will get him Media attention and a national spotlight because the Media loves anything "hate Trump". Meanwhile he ignores his district in which he is responsible because it won't get him the national spotlight.
Trump is an effing piece of feces. Baltimore has it’s share of problems but there are beautiful and fascinating aspects of the city. He does not deserve to breathe, just a waste of oxygen.
I agree with all of this but want to expand a little from my post on page 2 and what is bolded:
I'm in my mid-60s and lived in the Baltimore - Washington, DC area my whole life.
In addition to being a former resident I have been to Baltimore countless times for sporting events, theater, and other attractions / events. No one has ever bothered me or gave me a hard time in any way. While it does have problems in certain areas, overall it's not what many people are making it out to be...
