There will never be full adoption of self-driving cars; too many goddamm independents out there.
If they ever perfect the technology, and that’s a big if there won’t be a choice. Anyone who insists on driving will be paying risk insurance at least.
i have to disagree with those predicting that SD cars will end dui arrests.
You have to take in account that you would still be starting the vehicle, set your destination, etc... which would fall under vehicle operation.
Think of it this way: If you're in your vehicle drunk while it's parked on a public street with the keys in the ignition listening to the radio and the engines not running, you will get a dui if a cop pulls up, questions you, and determines you're under the influence.
