Seems like a successful tactic in a time and age that Americans have to make up stories about racism - let’s just fire up the ole time machine and take people back to the REAL era of racism so they can get angry all over again. Great way to keep progressives in line until Election Day.
Honest answer - zero times. In fact, I roll my eyes every time a conservative here brings up “Dixie Democrats” and how they were once pro-slavery. You can search my 11 years of posts here for proof of this fact.
I’m all for using history as a tool to help us make better decisions today. But this is nothing more than scratching the scabs of ancient wounds in order to fire up people today. Pointless endeavor.
Robert Byrd didnt inspire a generation of Democrats, this is like comparing what a freshman congressman tweets versus POTUS. Granted you didnt bring up Robert Byrd, but I think its consequential and it allows the proper context to his administration's policies.
1971........really. I am so tired of hearing about the snowflake melting things said by historic figures in the days long before political correctness being made issue of today. 1971 was 48 years ago. Reagan was elected nearly 40 years ago. You millennials should stay out of the 20tg century, you wouldn’t like it much there. Too much free speech, to much capitalism and it was way to white
1971? Why not? I voted back then; and got trash for my vote; maybe you were to young or not even born.

That’s right. I didn’t bring him up. And I never have, or would. That was OP’s attempt at a gotcha, which failed, because I’m not the angry Republican he/she thinks I am.

All of this is true. You are trying to deflect. Are you a Russian bot?

If you were old enough to vote in the 72 election then you must be at least in your late 60s, maybe even older. As a seasoned citizen as Rush would say you should be fully aware of the cultural norms that existed in the pre 1990s era, you KNOW most people said things then the SJWs would cry about. Judging people of the past by today’s standards is wrong. In fact today’s standards are indeed wrong. Your right I am younger than you but I did grow up in the 70s and 80s and I remember a much less uptight world, a better world. President Reagan was part of that, he was a great American.

I am. I was installed here back while Bush was still in office to begin my long term assignment of faking people out here ... and I would have gotten away with it too, IF IT WASN’T FOR YOU SNOOPING KIDS!

A better world because we are white. I am sure that many of people of color will tell you different. I remember that until 1964 a sign on the west side of the city limits of GRANDVIEW Mo; read "****** don't let the Sunset." YEAH SURE! That was a better world.
Why not? What was so different between Regan and the standard racist politician in the 1960's and 1970's? Regan and Trump are similar that both were trained in the entertainment business on how to talk and persuade people with speech. It's all bull crap but it works. Black folk knew it at the time but no one believed them, man this sounds familiar to today.
I guess those monkeys weren't invited to the "Shining city on the hill" Regan went on about.
Who is Regan ?
What politician has had the name Regan ?
