Complete background checks on all gun purchases and closing the backdoors in which guns can be transferred without a background check is supported by a majority of Americans. Such things help keep guns out of the hands of criminals and nut cases but don't affect law abiding people who want to buy/own guns.
The NRA fights the above because they are primarily a lobbying group for gun manufacturers. What you can do if you're an NRA member is demand that they back sensible gun legislation to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and nut cases.
Again, for the thousandth time, an actual civil war is not going to happen. However if there were confiscation attempts with our private firearms it would not be pretty. I doubt any such efforts would get out of the gate. Most cops are in no hurry to try such a thing.

Then the "good guys with.guns" become outlaws by shooting police and not wanting to legally hand over guns. Just goes to show you the reason some gun owners are worth the title of being called "gun nuts." I'm referring the SHTF ones that think they need to be armed with equal weapons to police and armed forces to prevent another Waco, as the "gun nuts" mind you.

It's not up to responsible gun owners to do anything about mass shootings, any more than it would be up to penis owners to stop other men from rape. Just because a man raped domeone, would you insist on chemical castration for all men?
The libs like to try to argue for gun control/bans due to the rare case of mass shootings. Yet there are hundreds of thousands of violent crimes committed by illegal aliens, and they arent screaming to shut down our borders or even deport them.
