Sure, they cleaned, which is objectively positive for the neighborhood. On the other hand, they decided to make a spectacle of it by marching down there with a whole bunch of cameras and Trump gear. Reasonable people do altruistic acts for the sake of being altruistic, they gain satisfaction simply from helping people. That fact that they decided to blast this on social media suggests that their motives are more about garnering a response from the internet, which is never a good motivation.
Or maybe they thought that this would also start to get political extremists to see that political support for one candidate doesn't make you an evil person that should be assaulted and attacked at every turn.
Did you read your own article? They are mad that he made his volunteer effort about photo ops and videos for a political purpose. I do clean ups twice a year every year. You know what I didn’t do? Post them all over social media with specific remarks about one political party or the other. I do post the total amount of what we clean up and even a picture of the final haul (something Pressler did not bother doing), frequently with the smiling faces of my students from all different political bents.
Volunteerism can be used for political purposes as much as anything else. But it shouldn’t be, not by Pressler, not by anyone.
Btw, it is inappropriate to make videos and pictures of the people who you are helping to post them on your social media. This is something we go over in detail when our students volunteer at the local homeless shelter or the va. Make your memories, accept that thanks, and go home without using people who needed help part of your social media feed. Maybe Mr. Pressler is new to this, but it’s a lesson he should learn.

This is the atmosphere that Trump has created, and why everyone on both sides is taking shots at the other side.
Lying? Are you kidding? Trump is so transparent he can't help himself. He says exactly what is on his mind, much to his disadvantage. We are so used to have politicians lie to us, that when we have someone who says exactly what he thinks, the public freaks out.
See Obama and Clinton for lying. They are the traditional politicians who always lie, as a matter of course.
Liberals hate Trump because he is very frank and says things that are not PC, but the truth. You may hate Trump, but at least you know what he is thinking and what he plans on doing. I find it refreshing to have a POTUS who is frank, rather than the usual politician who never says what they actually think.
