No, this is NOT the Onion. This is for real.

The US Census Bureau will hire illegals...aka "non citizens" for the 2020 census.
They found a loophole and will call them "translators".

How's that for a slap in the face to American citizens who could have used that pay.

THE CENSUS BUREAU IS pursuing a legal loophole that its officials believe would allow them to temporarily hire non-U.S. citizens as part of its efforts to reach populations that are difficult to count, including in non-English speaking and immigrant communities.

The article makes no mention of illegals. You do realize that someone can be legally in the United States and not be a citizen correct??

I don't think anyone says illegals anymore. They are all now "non citizens".

Illegals do fall under "anyone who is not a citizen" don't they ?

https://www.theblaze.com/news/census...xt-years-count

A bureau spokesperson refused to directly answer whether the agency planned to hire illegal aliens, saying, "There is nowhere in our legal flexibilities that refers to people we could possibly hire as 'illegal,'" but they acknowledged that the term "non-citizen" includes "anyone who is not a U.S. citizen."

There are a lot of non citizens that aren't illegals. The article says they plan to hire permanent legal residents which aren't citizens. Permanent legal residents are allowed to work in the US already. Legally.

Non-citizens can include those who are permanent residents (green card holders). Nothing to do with "illegals".

Take a chill pill and a cup of herbal tea.
