This isn't really a "good guy with a gun" story, though. If the wingnut in the body armor had wanted to shoot people, he certainly had ample time and opportunity to do so.

The only way the firefighter comes into play is if you are asserting that the police wouldn't have apprehended the whack-job without him - and I don't think that's really the case here.

The firefighter will probably get sued for illegal arrest. He might get charged with kidnapping.

I seriously doubt that.

Everything legal is not necessarily moral, ethical, or advisable.

Slavery was once legal here, as was beating your wife.

The equivalent of yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theater. You do not have that right, regardless of 1A.

So am I. But was this idiot actually going to shoot anyone or was he trying to cause chaos to be on tv?

Either way, what he was doing was intentional.

The Springfield Police Department arrived on scene within three minutes of the call. Police stated that a young white male, appearing to be in his twenties, pulled up to the Walmart, where he donned body armor and military fatigues. Police say the man had tactical weapons.

Police then say the man walked into the Walmart: Neighborhood Market where he grabbed a cart and began pushing it around the store. Police say the man was recording himself walking through the store via a cell phone.

The store manager at the Neighborhood Market pulled a fire alarm, urging people to escape the store.

Police say the man then made his way out an emergency exit where a former firefighter held the man at gunpoint. At that moment Springfield Police arrived on scene and detained the man.

The Springfield Police Department could not confirm the nature of statements said by the man to those inside of the Walmart, but they do confirm that the man had loaded weapons, and over one hundred rounds of ammunition.
Praise the valor of that fireman ! seems like more copy cats. Dangerous- be careful and vigilant please

How any person can think it is not going to be a problem for them to walk around in public with a rifle attached to their body, let alone body armor, and all of that, is simply stupid and indefensible. I can guarantee you that if YOU walked into a store and there was some idiot in full dress military gear, you would not just think nothing of it.

This isn't the old west here anymore, you would hope that by 2019 we would have evolved somewhat. Sadly, it seems a small segment of our population have regressed instead. It is childish and it is stupid, period.
They got you right where they want you, don't they?

"Just comply with everything they say."

Those Sovereign Citizens are not "stupid". When, exactly, did they consent to being governed? When did you?

Be very careful about blindly accepting, without question, the idea that "scaring" someone is illegal. Be very, very careful about that. Once you go down that slope, there's no coming back.
