He's a running qb and that limits the teams he'd even match. Denver would not have been it.
Not for a number 2. Many teams that have pocket passers have a mobile as backup. Tyrod Taylor is backing up Philip Rivers. Blake Bortles is backing up Jared Goff.
As far as Denver they've been throwing darts at the QB position for a while now. Two years ago they drafted Paxton Lynch, a running QB with abig arm. Sounds alot like Kap.
So he was offered one tryout in 3 years, he is good enough to be a backup. It has nothing to do with his ability it’s the baggage. He should have just beat his wife like some of the other players rather than taking a knee and he would be playing.

The point is, he did not want to sign as a backup. He only wanted to sign if he was promised he would start.
I think he should play...maybe try the Iranian Football League.... he sure won't have to worry about the evile national anthem in Tehran! And he can kneel 7 times a day too...
If he was in Iran, he could also advocate for the women who are oppressed there. While some women in America might be more oppressed than women in Iran and vice versa, I would say that the women in Iran tend to be more oppressed than the women in America.
Trump is correct. If CK were good enough he would be considered. That isn't the only factor however. How much drama or baggage is he bringing to the team? That absolutely matters. A team will accept a lot of crap from an all star, but not from an average or sub par player.
Football's fan base I would wager is heavily conservative. Too many to risk alienating a team from their fan base for 1 disgruntled, ungrateful has been that really never was.

Not really. NFL fan base is pretty "middle of the road".

No that wasn't true at all it would have been a salary cut of a few million and he turned it down. No team had him in for a tryout for the 3 years following, no offers, nothing for a quarterback with his background in 3 years, no offer, no tryout. Its not about ability its about a blackball. He settled earlier this year with the NFL so its not even debatable.
The larger question is why Trump is still raising this issue, doesn't a president have important things to do rather than worry about backup quarterbacks.

The courts say otherwise, the NFL settled, it had nothing to do with ability it was about his background. Michael Vick the wife beaters and felons were reemployed why not CK.

Oh please. Big companies settle all the time because it is cheaper than fighting. Fact.....
CK was never in the same league as Vick and if you remember quite a few were outraged, myself included, that he was allowed to play again. Many teams passed on Vick.
CK was average at his best in the league. Nobody wanted him because an average player that brings controversy is bad for business. There is no disputing that the CK controversy cost the NFL.
I for one, to this day don't watch the NFL anymore. College ball is more entertaining and far less political.
Just because a company settles doesn't = guilt. It just means that they did a cost benefit analysis and decided that it would be cheaper to settle. In the USA it's a good bet if the party being sued is well insured or loaded, guilt will have little to do with the verdict and everything to do with ability to payout.
LOL every warning label on a ladder is testimony to a lawsuit that a ladder company lost. A lawyer joking made that comment, I can't remember where, but it was back in the 90's. Read those labels and you will know exactly how people think when they sit on a jury.
I'm not a football fan but by all accounts that I have heard was that he wasn't really that great of a ball player to begin with.
He did poorly his last two seasons, some teams *may* put up with the baggage if you are super talented but he is not in that category. There is players much better than him that have bounced from team to team or have found it difficult to get a job. Many teams don't want that distraction even when the player is talented. Look up Terrell Owens...
