Considering almost every day in places like Chicago, Detroit and the like have active shooters, probably not.

However mass shootings of innocent civilians (i.e. not gangbanger related mayhem) or ambushes on LE are in fact news worthy.

it my wife's opinion is suicides "cluster" and maybe shooters do as well.
of course, several of the shooters ARE suicidal, since they plan it that way.

Utterly irrelevant. I am sure the perp is a member of a well-regulated militia defending a free people. The plain fact is that if we did not have the 2nd Amendment these cops - and all the other people who got shot up today- probably would not be fighting for their lives now.
