It's all carnage, what's the difference except some people think it should only happen to poor people who deserve to live around violence and terror 24/7.
For these people like gmagoo (let me guess, he considers himself as a liberal and votes Democrat), it's basically out of sight, out of mind. Gang violence terrorizes those in the community far more than these sporadic and rare mass shootings. But, it's confined to Black urban city centers. It happens no where else. So gmagoo rightfully knows if he doesn't live there, he won't face any problems.

Justice for what crime exactly?

These young white males go a SLAP ON THE WRIST. What's the going punishment these days for owning some illegal ammo clips? Did they even confiscate their guns or rescind their gun ownership rights? HIGHLY doubt it...we can't have that, right?

So how much of a winning strategy is it if the guys we got lucky apprehending are free to try this again in a month or three?
Clips aren't illegal so no punishment. Plus, even if you illegally take their firearms it's not that difficult to rearm if they are indeed a real criminal.

Most of the sensational mass shooters didn’t do anything prior to engagement in a mass shooting.

Most firearm owners do not engage in mass shootings.

All mass shooters own or had firearms at their disposal.

No shortage of posters to this forum and elsewhere have used similar logic to justify their fear and hate of all Muslims. There are 100x more firearms in the US than people of the Muslim faith. Reportedly, less than 1/3 of the US adult population owns a firearm.

Back to topic.... the sale fully automatic firearms to civilians was banned in 1986. Reportedly, about 600,000 remain, mostly in private collections. When was the last time anyone recalls a mass shooting where a fully- automatic weapon was used?

Loners with firearms are correlated with mass shootings.

You said if "likely to kill" then put them in a psych ward. What is the standard that needs to be reached?
Psych ward? For how long?

At the end of the day, you don't need to have acted on a threat to have committed a crime by making the threat. Threats of violence are not protected by the First Amendment.
Rarely is anyone ruled criminally insane/ incompetent to stand trial.

obviously, looking like a dork should lead to an investigation and seizure of any firearms

The intent of most inner city shootings is not the same as a sensational mass shooter.

Most inner city shootings are gang related and parties are known to each other or cases of mistaken identity.
While there are certainly many more one off shooting incidents throughout the US, the objective is not to take out dozens, hundreds in a single incident.

Most of these shootings are also concentrated in rougher neighborhoods whereas a sensational mass shooting can happen anywhere.

Most places are gun free zones. Most gun free zones are nothing more than a window sticker. Rarely are people scanned or searched before entry. The only consequence is that one MAY be asked to leave if a weapon is detected.

Very difficult to distinguish a good vs bad guy with a gun in the midst of chaos. Most aremobile and often times create the perception of multiple shooters.

No shortage of people in the crowds were doing the open carry thing in Dallas when gunfire broke out in 2016. No doubt some of them thought they would go into Rambo mode if they found themselves in the midst of a mass shooter. In a split second, the armed made the best decision to run for their lives with everyone else.

As it was, many fleeing, perceived they were being chased by one or more gunmen. Pictures of some of them were released to the media as wanted for questioning. Most surrendered and were quickly cleared.

Imagine the outcome at the Las Vegas concert had the attendees been allowed to carry. No one knew with any certainty the source of fire. Some perceived it came from within the crowd. For some reason, many perceived it was coming from the 4th floor. Imagine if some of the armed had begun shooting at perceived sources.
