This is true, but you have to understand he is trying to appeal to supporters that have a childish schoolyard mentality. Similar to how gangsters like Gotti and Capone had their admirers. He couldn't care less if he "wins" a debate in any rational sense.
There have been some comments alluding to Trump possibly not wanting to participate in the typical three debates with the future Democratic nominee. Would Trump supporters care if he refused?
The debates are Trump's favorite part of the election cycle. I highly doubt he would give up that prime air time.
