It seems the word is becoming too selective about what it must necessitate to qualify as opression

I don't get it? I thought real opression required goverment intervention and exploitation

Yet it seems that the word is being over simplified in the name of modern politics

To me opression isn't even about identity, is about a clash between a power structure and "outsiders"

Harassment now counts as opression, sexual assault now counts as opression, teasing now counts as opression

So that's why I would like know how people look at the word on its basis so I can standardize its meaning to a default recognition

I am not trying to downplay the following concerns, I just don't see why that's appropriate to count as "oppression"? Calling it opression is just quite a stretch

I don't understand why you need our definition of the word. They make the internet so you can do web searches now days. besides, according to you, the problem is how people define oppression in the first place. So, again, not sure what the point of the thread is

You can’t voice your opinion against Holocaust in many European countries. Is that oppression?

My definition goes with what your standard dictionary defines the word as.

I would define oppression as pretty much every scheme and plan that the Democrat candidates have in store for us if one of them should win in 2020.

Socialism/communism introduced.

Freedom of speech, gone.
Gun Rights, gone.
Citizens Rights put aside for the Rights of the so called asylum seeking "migrants" granted.

And of course the oppression of increased taxes to pay for all the pet projects such as reparations, free healthcare for illegals and millions of others etc etc...

So at least I know now that you don't define it by what politically charged mormons try to infer it all the time

Got it

The definition is “being subject to unjust treatment or control”, and to me that would be any person initiating force against another person or their property (non-defensive force).

There are varying degrees, obviously... you could have a penny taken from you by force, or you could have some authoritarian regime dictating every aspect of your life.
