The Constitution replacing the AOC wasn't Sammy Hagar replacing David Lee Roth. Yes, differences aside even the most hardcore fan can admit VH had solid tunes under Hagar.

The Constitution replacing the AOC was Warren replacing Barney on The Andy Griffith Show: an unmitigated nightmare.

The first thing I'd do is have NPR read the constitution over the air sort of like they did the Declaration of Independence.

If the right wingers throw a fit over constitution.............calling it "left wing propaganda" like they did when NPR read the Declartion of Independence............then I'd leave it alone.

All you have to do is look at the thread I created about taxes and how nearly every single MAGA thinks taxes are a good thing.

The Articles were arguably the greatest document written by man, and the founders trashed it because they wanted to be kings.

9) Ranked choice instant runoff voting with proof printed 2 part card. Part 1 kept by voter, part 2 kept as check by voting dept. Shorter federal campaigns including primary reform.
10) Modify the EC to proportional + 2 for winning the state or similar possibly skewed toward the winner more but. Force the GOP to try in CA and Dems in TX. Possibly modify it to skew toward the winner more but aiming at more than 12 states being in play for the presidency. Balancing small state power vs more states in play. Not sure of exact formula.

Most of these, especially #9, plus give the office of Veep a useful function, correctly formulate the 2nd amendment, and fix birthright citizenship so it isn't as abused.

Who wants a true Democracy? Only those who know they will have the biggest mob to force everyone to their rules.

This country, the greatest on earth, would be lost forever.

Look how crappy the UK has been doing.

ALL of the above which wouldn't really change the Constitution at all. It would be more of a reset.

To really pull it off you would need to abolish the 17th. Senators were never supposed to serve open-ended terms. The state legislatures should be appointing senators just as they did 110 years ago. If they are doing poorly there should be a vote by said legislature to FIRE THEM!!!

The Founding fathers created four co-equal branches of government. The States through the Senate, the people via House, The Executive and the Judiciary. You needed agreement of three of the four branches to get something done. The 17th Amendment screwed up the balance and allowed the Federal Government to run amok.

To the left: Would You Tear Up The US Constitution And Start From Scratch?

I don't think any knowledgeable person would be crazy enough to want that in this age of Big Business and Big Dark Money.

There are already special interests advocating for a constitutional convention and many states have already passed resolutions. It has been promoted for many years, but you won't generally find liberals behind that these days. Big moneyed corporations and families with global interests are behind it, and they are a powerfully dangerous force of self interest in the modern world.

We can achieve everything we need to make America greater than ever within the framework of the present constitution and through constitutional amendments.

Frankly, a convention is an invitation to a public meltdown, and a serious threat to a republican form of government.

I certainly would not scrap the Constitution and start over. It has defined for 250 years what is arguably the best system of government in history. However, I would rewrite certain parts to provide clarity. The need for clarity is evidenced by some of the greatest controversies. For example:

The 2nd amendment is very poorly worded, which results in an endless argument about whether it is only meant to apply to militias or to everyone. I would delete the militia part, making it applicable to all, but include language to allow for things like background checks, waiting periods and bans on certain types of weapons (atomic bombs anyone?)

The 14th amendment grants citizenship to all who are born here. The wording however leaves room for those who say it was not intended to allow for "anchor babies". We need to decide what we really want it to be then rewrite so that it is clear.

Article 1 section 8, "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States" seems to grant broad authority, but the 10th amendment says ;“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people". This leads to an ongoing debate over what government functions are constitutional. We should add language to clarify this issue.

The Electoral College system has caused quite a bit of controversy lately. It should be scrapped altogether, or modified to ensure that the results represent the will of the people.

The Senate as originally created was a kind of old boys club. Mostly wealthy landowners or businessmen, directly analogous to the British House of Lords. I think we've improved since then.

Depending on your other sociopolitical views, I might vote for you for POTUS were you at least 35 and that vote would be largely for the point I made bold.

I'd make it ilegal for the president to claim he's the second coming of God.
