Pop superstar Taylor Swift has admitted she is “very remorseful” about her refusal to get involved in the 2016 presidential election, but has pledged to “do everything I can for 2020” to promote progressive candidates and public policy.

The 29-year-old singer came under criticism for refusing to take sides in the 2016 presidential race, leading many to falsely believe she was a Republican.

“I was just trying to protect my mental health — not read the news very much, go cast my vote, tell people to vote,” Taylor Swift said in an interview with The Guardian published Friday. “I just knew what I could handle and I knew what I couldn’t. I was literally about to break.”

The Grammy-winner went on to say that her perceived negative public image at the time made her feel “just useless” and more a “like a hindrance.” However, she now feels “really remorseful for not saying anything” and confirmed she would have endorsed Hillary Clinton. When asked about efforts by Tennesee lawmakers to restrict access to abortion services, Swift confirmed she was pro-choice and would “do everything I can for 2020.”

Will Taylor’s endorsement helps put the 2020 Dem candidate over the finish line?

People who make voting decisions based upon what a pop star thinks tend to be liberal.

Not at all. There are many right wing stars. Remember Clint's chair at? I can enumerate many others.

Nope. Won't make a difference. Celebrities already have gotten a bad reputation in recent years, and Taylor's simply trying to be just another one of those.

She should be representing real Americans and not caving in to what much of the music industry would want her to believe. We need more celebrities rising to support President Trump and keeping America great.

Real americans? Excuse me. I do not like Trump. I served our country in the military. Now you are saying I am not a real american? Forget you.

She supported a far better candidate in Phil Bredesen in TN for their senate seat and he still lost to that crazy loon. So she won't move the needle at all...any celebrity that thinks they have any influence in voting decisions is delusional.

Why would we need more celebrities rising to support Trump? I'm sure you realize there are people who understand what a cancerous and toxic carbuncle on the backside of America he is and are able make up their own mind, right? Or is all well in your la-la land?
