America is a wealthy nation and we can afford things that are vital to us it just depends on priorities.

Denmark is one of the happiest societies on the planet...along with Finland, Sweden and Norway...we should strive to emulate those countries. The USA ranks 18th.

Opposing and enforcing our immigration laws isn't Nazism or racism either yet you and yours keep claiming that it is so clean up your own backyard before you attack others.

The honest truth! Just look at the comment under this topic using the same unwarranted nasty labels against Americans who merely want our immigration laws respected and enforced while they conveniently forget that we allow in 1 million legal immigrants a year. They disgust me!
Well one can't exactly claim that light socialism has been bad for northern Europe. They have some of the best health care and education systems in the world.

The Scandinavian nations are best termed 'social democracies.' They are free market capitalist with extensive 'safety nets.' Socialism means "gov't ownership of the means of production." Cuba and Venezuela are examples; the Scandis are not.
Well, it's all semantics. And also a matter of degree. But to quote from your link:

When Bernie calls himself a Democratic Socialist, I think this is what he has in mind. And the young Cuban Americans in the OP story, when it said they embrace socialism, I believe this is what they are referring to. So whatever you call it, this Nordic Model sounds good to me. In fact I have no doubt that the US will eventually move in that direction, the only question being how fast. The knee-jerk reaction by some to any hint of socialism need not be; no one in the US is advocating Venezuelan-style socialism.
All I know is young people are tired of old politicians and detest mrT - they are mostly more open and very global. I don’t know about socialist but conservatives never. They are still into home and loyalty but don’t like that nobody is paying attention to mass shootings, and they’ve do not like this pulling families apart when this can be fixed administratively. The debt is out of control and that’s on the Republicans so that argument at the rally’s is pfft. They want want to make friends not enemies like mrT. Is pizzing off everyone on the planet. Reps might win one more election- for lack of a good dem candidate, but they are done after that. These kids will be of voting age, and these kids are more aware of what’s going on through social media.

Cars aren't needed by everybody there as even he smaller towns are compact and densely built and have mass transit...the population there doesn't complain about 50% income tax because they know it pays for a great safety net...yet they still are very capitalistic and also very environmentally friendly.

Free stuff makes most humans happy. So does ice cream.
