I think it’s a great analogy! Good way to get attention from the public.

And yes we are in trouble, take away 20% of our carbon sinks, just one less tool we have in slowing down global warming.

The US has its own ecological sins to contend with, starting with 18 years of continual planetary bombing and resource destruction. No US govt official (or its many finger wagging do gooders) has any business commenting on issues anywhere else.

When did forestry in Brazil become the province of the executive branch of the US government?

Was there a treaty signed at some point recently that I am unaware of?

So what is a US president going to do about a fire on Brazilian land?

Did the government of Brazil just allow anyone and everyone to come on their land and do what they want?

The burning of the rain forests is land that is being used to plant switch grass for alternative fuels, which liberals love. So do they want switch grass or the rain forest? When they decide, how are they going to convince the Brazilian government to do what they say?

I don't know -- why would he offer help if there was nothing to do?

You have to ask Trump.

It is an interesting question, is it not? Considering the President of the US doesn't have authority to fight fires ON AMERICAN SOIL until the governor of the state that has the fire specifically requests the assistance grants the federal government that permission.

This may be one of the dumbest thread topics ever. Yeah, Trump talks outside his mind a lot, and even offering US aid to Brazil is retarded, but actually condemning him for missing a meeting where world leaders sit around and strategize on how to help a country none of them have any authority to help? Really?

Trump didn't want to burn any fuel for his motorcade to drive from the hotel to the conference.

Trump saved the world!

The same things Canada has done for the U.S. by providing things like forest fire fighting water bombers, repairing hurricane & tornado damage, providing a hospital ship, rescue helicopters, clean drinking water, and heavy urban rescue teams etc., etc., …….. etc.. We know it's an alien concept for some.

Next question?
