Because the world is full of morons.

In other news, the NYTimes recently had a story on how far they've underestimated the rising sea levels, did anyone read it? I read it, cities such as Mumbai India, Bangkok Thailand, Shanghai China and other cities in this region of the world are screwed come 2050, scientists have now determined that future flooding in these major cities will be 10X worse then previously forecast by mid century.

Ten times worse.

Uh huh. They haven't been right about a single prediction yet.

Either way......2.18 mm/yr.....is about 0.85 inch a decade....less than 1 inch a decade
So two different Government agencies don't even agree on the data. What a shock! Whom to believe?

Water rise along our shores is much greater that an inch or two per decade. The difference is probably in the intensity of the tides and storms. The seawalls that are being breached all over Hawaii are mostly 50 or more years old. They are not failing from age, but from higher water levels and the increased intensity of storms.

Didn't they say that 20 years ago?

Actually, they've only been wrong on the scale, and that is because they've underestimated the severity of climate change.

So, yea, when they get things wrong, it's because it's worse than predicted.

They adjust the data and always try to make it look worse than it is.

What is the other government agency? and what did they say?

Can't be....the official tide gauge in Kahului says the rate of sea level rise is 2.18 mm/yr.... 0.85 inch a decade

The tide gauge is attached to the land...that's sea level rise relative to the land...up or down

...in 50 years they have seen 0.36 ft of sea level rise.....it's 0.72 ft in 100 years....3/4 of a foot in 100 years

It is impossible for scientists or anybody to determine that. It's one of many hundreds of modeled outcomes selected to push a political agenda. It's a prediction, not a determination.
