How can any sane person keep their sanity and composure in such an environment?! It is a wonder that any work gets done with far left liberals in the room. Remember this?
Slight correction--Larry Gossett is a King County councilmember, not Seattle city council. He's been around forever in Seattle area politics. IIRC he was one of the drivers in getting King County 'redesignated' as being named for MLK Jr. It originally was named for Rufus King, who it turns out was probably our first gay VP. There was some pushback over that from local gay activists, but not much. It cost over $400,000 for the county to redo all the logos.
There is a certain block in Seattle near the county courthouse that has to be power-washed for feces 3 times per week. I'm sure the salmon love all that going down the storm drains. A lot of storm drain grates around here have an image of a salmon on them to remind people to be careful what they put down the drains.
To say that one "brown-bagged it today," meaning 'brought lunch from home' is still a fairly common expression. Elliot Bronstein of the Seattle Office for Civil Rights finds this expression to be racist. All PR personnel at city agencies have been advised not to use the term. Instead, they should use the expression "lunch and learn" (??)….

Feces may be mans trash but to others it is treasure. It's called fertilzer. If you wash it into the ocean in controlled amounts it can actually be beneficial. It's one thing they have found about fish farms. Because of all the ditritus (fish feces, dead fish and food) that falls to the bottom under the pens it actually creates an ecosystem under the pens.
As for the courthouse and that area of Seattle it's one of the most disgusting. Several shelters and other public services are located there. On the rare occasion I go through the area it's pretty bad. Slve the homeless problem, the drug problem, the lack of mental health services these problems will go away. The fountain and park across the street are drug bazaars too.
