Ethanol is by far the biggest debacle for "green" energy we have had. This was policy pushed by Al Gore FYI. The only one benefiting from it is the farmers, distillers, small engine repair shops and to some degree automotive repair shops with the right circumstances. It's a boondoggle that needs to end.
Ethanol has always been very much maligned by auto owners for giving them 10% less MPG on average as well as being harmful to cars engine components. That and for driving up the price of corn as a food source for its use as a fuel source.
It's good to have friends in the White House if you make fossil fuels. Why bother blending in ethanol from corn?
Let's close all those ethanol plants and convert corn farms into parking lots.
Ethanol was a bad idea from the start. Lowers mileage, loses energy, raises the cost of food, shortens engine life. It was only passed for the farm vote.

The ethanol program takes more fossil fuels to maintain than it saves.
It is the WORST program ever in every measure.
But, it keeps the Iowa primary votes going to candidates promising to continue this boondoggle.
There is a reason why airports don't use fuel with ethanol. You can justify a car having engine problems due to it, but when planes fall from the sky....
BTW, for those who want gas without ethanol, most small airports will sell it to you.
It doesn't really sound like (in the link) much of substance is being done. Largely complaints by America's whiner farmers who have been living off the public dole for a couple generations now. And Trump apparently says what they did will be rolled back or revised. I think we are stuck with this ethanol debacle for the long run.

Ethanol-free is available here at the gas stations, but it is expensive.

Yeah, aircraft run diesel fuel. There are solubility issues with ethanol in diesel. As for gas without ethanol, it's weird but it is available all over the midwest including the corn belt at the corner gas station. Costs quite a bit more. For whatever reason, it is very hard to find where I live.

You can find it at some gas stations but it cost about 80 or 90 cents more per gallon, it would be lower cost than what regular is now without the ethanol mandate. I have to drive a bit to get it but it's the only thing that goes into my small engines.
Jets run a derivative of it , piston engines run avgas which is very high octane gasoline.
