Choosing just two countries off the top of my head as examples of "gun control" I discovered that ...

Brazil has far less civil liberties and guns than the U.S. does.
But has five times the murder rate.

(Then, as a reminder to everyone about the 'fallacy' of safety when it comes to "controlling guns"):

Venezuelans regret gun ban, 'a declaration of war against an unarmed population'

Gun Control Preceded the Tyranny in Venezuela

How Gun Control Became an Instrument of Tyranny in Venezuela

The results are not good as you can see ...

Quote:
As if coping with constant food and medicine shortages were not enough for crisis-weary Venezuelans, many live in constant fear in a country where three people die violently every hour.

The South American nation registered 26,000 homicides last year, 89 per 100,000 inhabitants and a figure 15 times the global average, according to the Venezuelan Observatory of Violence, a non-governmental group.

Property rights are absolute.

It doesn't matter if you could "win" a war against the government or not. This has to be the dumbest anti-gun talking point in the world.

The life of a gun nut. Must stay up at night hyperventilating about the slippery slope and the Feds knocking down your doors to take away your assault rifle range toys. When's the final battle coming when you middle aged Rambos make the final stand against Uncle Sam? My guess is most of you have never fired a shot in real combat and would fold like a stack of cards if the professionals came at you.

Do you really think that the military and police would shoot their friends and neighbors? Many would turn against the government themselves.
And I spent 13 months in combat. Most of my friends served, how about you?

Afghanistan has done a pretty good job of holding off the Soviets in the 80's and years later giving the U.S.military trouble with basically small arms fire. Doesn't seem that long ago to me.
