Seems like a large percentage of college women were much happier a generation or two ago.

63% of college-aged females report drinking in the last month, a higher percentage then men.

In general, many will aspire to have it all and will end up deep in student loan debt. A large percentage of them extra earnings from a university degree if they choose the right one will go directly to taxes and child-care.

Many are studying subjects that they either felt pressured into or are learning they will have whopping debt for a major that has little demand for employment.

I wonder if part of it is the lack of men to date on college campuses these days for them and lack of selection. Part of college is about relationships and I can imagine with the lack of men on many college campuses it must be difficult for a large percentage of women.

Many are likely pressured these days to get into STEM where that is where the jobs are and they would much rather be something else. They are studying day in and day out subjects that many don't have an interesting in, although some do.

Odd, how college males have far lower rates of sadness, anxiety, anger and a lower percentage of college men drink.

26% of college women have been treated for anxiety compared to 12% of men

20% of college women treated for depression compared to 11% for men

13% of college women have panic attacks compared to less than 5% for men in college

These women are easily manipulated by what they see on social media. They see all of these people living supposedly glamorous lifestyles and feel immense pressure to keep up. Of course most of them can’t and this is what happens. Then the drinking turns them into undesirable fatties and the situation deteriorates further.

Men in that age group just want to have sex and a good time.

Jonathon Haidt, Jonathon Haidt, Jonathon Haidt.

People need to read his books.

Or, for those with short attention spans, need to listen to his interviews or TED Talks.

He's been covering this for years.

This is precisely what Haidt talks about, although not as crassly.

If people really are interested in what is happening they need to read “The Coddling of the American Mind”. It says what I have been saying for years as an educator.

yes!

Edit: Oh, we can't use all caps for a single word post. Well, that was an emphatic "YES!" to your book recommendation. I 100% agree.

Here are some reviews of the book for anyone not sure what it's about:

Quote:
“A disturbing and comprehensive analysis of recent campus trends… Lukianoff and Haidt notice something unprecedented and frightening… The consequences of a generation unable or disinclined to engage with ideas that make them uncomfortable are dire for society, and open the door – accessible from both the left and the right – to various forms of authoritarianism.” — Thomas Chatterton Williams, The New York Times Book Review (cover review and Editors’ Choice selection)

"So how do you create ‘wiser kids’? Get them off their screens. Argue with them. Get them out of their narrow worlds of family, school and university. Boot them out for a challenging Gap year. It all makes perfect sense…the cure seems a glorious revelation."— Philip Delves Broughton, Evening Standard

“The authors, both of whom are liberal academics — almost a tautology on today’s campuses — do a great job of showing how ‘safetyism’ is cramping young minds. Students are treated like candles, which can be extinguished by a puff of wind. The goal of a Socratic education should be to turn them into fires, which thrive on the wind. Instead, they are sheltered from anything that could cause offence. . . Their advice is sound. Their book is excellent. Liberal parents, in particular, should read it.”— Edward Luce, Financial Times

“Their distinctive contribution to the higher-education debate is to meet safetyism on its own, psychological turf… Lukianoff and Haidt tell us that safetyism undermines the freedom of inquiry and speech that are indispensable to universities.” — Jonathan Marks, Commentary

“The remedies the book outlines should be considered on college campuses, among parents of current and future students, and by anyone longing for a more sane society.” — Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Lifted from the Amazon page for the book itself, but not sure if I'm allowed to link to Amazon.

How unhappy are young people that have bought into the progressivism lies hook, line, and sinker?

- White male suicide is up 150% - Go figure, they are being blamed for everything!

- Millennials believe these are the worst times for this country, even while all the metrics point to it being the best!

- The women who started the feminist movement never intended it to be a "hate men" movement. Far from it. They themselves hate the MeToo version of feminism because it's abnormal and not a natural biological way to live. They burned their bras (which we appreciated) and promoted love not hate.

How can anyone be happy when they are living in a land of intentional confusion?

"Intentional Confusion". Very well put, and that is exactly what WOMEN, and their liberal/progressive heroes created. Now, deal with it.

How can anyone be "happy" when they are indoctrinated into the Bubble of Victimhood?
They believe this stuff - they live in an Echo Chamber that has nothing to do with reality
- spoonfed their Victim status.
