I wasn't disputing the numbers (and I think that may be the first time I've ever agreed with chucksnee). My point was that if the OP weren't a Trump supporter (I should have added Republican to that as well), it would take away the 'whataboutism' point that those other posters used because the OP would have no responsibility to defend anything Trump has done. The argument would them become subjective as to how inportant that 2% is to any voter.

ALL former president's secret service costs are classified.

https://www.ntu.org/foundation/tax-p...idents-archive

It's not some conspiracy.

At least he is legally earning that money OUTSIDE of the office of the presidency, unlike some.

And, they ended up costing the tax payers a mere 200K more. Peanuts, plus I see nowhere where it accounts for inflation and real estate increases.

Until they are not
We know the Secret Service had to ask for additional funds beyond the budgeted amount because of the travel expenses of Trump for his golf and visits to MarALago as well as his immediate family
Including the time Melania choose to spend in NY w/Barron vs coming to the WH after the Innaguaration
I can’t fault her for wanting her son to stay in a known environment vs moving him in middle of the school year
But other travel decisions are never considered for their impact on the budget

As in VP Pence’s decisions in Ireland
Definitely not any thought to the costs to American taxpayers despite any rationalizations made when it was questioned...

I do not think Secret Service costs are classified for a sitting President.

The reason for this nonsense is simple.

When Trump leaves he will not be asked to give speeches or make money on books. Based on the number of cases Trump has going on in court, he is going to need to earn more once out of the WH.

Trump and his people are jealous.

My mistake
I didn’t see the “former” in your posts
