There are restaurants and bars that add your tip in for you. So technically, they can say you havent paid your full bill if you dont tip enough.

I've never had that experience unless it was a very clearly stated policy for parties of 5 or more.

Can you name some of them please?

Perhaps they are referring to the tip amounts that are sometimes printed at the bottom of the receipts to assist the mathematically challenged customers.

I dont know names, I have been to a few, but i tend to stay away from those places once i find them or see it at the bottom of a menu.

A mandatory tip isnt a tip, its a built in price model. And thats the problem.

No, as he stated some places do it based on size of party, some based on the bill itself. Some just add it onto the prices of the drinks or food.

Stay away from those places.

I've seen it done that way with larger parties but that's about the only time I can recall that practice being used. Not saying it doesn't happen though.

I have never understood why it was used for size of party or bill pricing either.

But if tipping isnt mandatory and is based on service, then this shouldnt happen.

I guess my argument circles back around to , if its mandatory, its a pricing model, not a tip.

Many in the Miami area have tips automatically included. 18% is what I have seen.
