This story shows EVERYTHING that's wrong with the federal bureaucracy and the liberal, out of touch East Coast elites that staff it. First of all, Kansas City is a major city and metro area, a metro area almost as large as Baltimore or Pittsburgh. Yet these federal employees think its a small town in the middle of nowhere. They truly believe in the idea of bi-coastal America that there's nothing between the Northeast and California (probably nothing in the South in their opinion either.)
And even IF Kansas City was a small town, these people work for the Department of AGRICULTURE and the idea of leaving the big city of DC terrifies them? Is there not something wrong with this picture? These liberal, yuppie paper pushers are the ones making policies and regulations, telling real farmers and ranchers how to run their operations, with implications for their very livelihoods. People with no actual experience in agriculture, just facts and figures and computer projections and research studies conducted by government researchers.
A 7th generation Amish farmer with an 8th grade education from the one room schoolhouse knows far more about agriculture than these liberal yuppies ever will.
These government bureaucrats expect coal miners from West Virginia and eastern Kentucky to just uproot their lives and families after the government destroys that industry through overregulation. The USDA itself expects farmers and ranchers to leave their land in the face of onerous federal policies. So why any sympathy for them?
HAHA $300 million in 15 years, we all know that's a lie. They will spend that on travel and hotel cost flying back and forth to D.C. Trust me they will find a way to spend that money, its not coming back to the tax payers.
Lets be honest it was a D1@k by the Trump Administration to kill the reports coming out of the USDA. I don't know why people are sugar coating it, just call it what it is. The administration is completely in their right to move the agency so the workers are stuck unless they move, but it seems no one really cares.
Anyone know why Kansas City? Seems Dallas or another city with a good International Airport would be a better selection considering all the travel that will take place between D.C. and the newly relocated office. Cost savings HAHAHAHAHA.
It's called videoconferencing. And Kansas City has a major airport with direct flights to the DC area, I know for a fact Southwest has at least 3 direct flights a day from KCI to BWI. People think Kansas City is a small rural town surrounded by cornfields, its a major metro area with a healthy economy, and also less crime compared to DC. The ignorance about Kansas City aside, it would serve these AGRICULTURAL employees well to, you know, be exposed to real agriculture........

Trump is not only running larger deficits and ruining farmers, but deconstructing science and biology......who would have through FARM research would be a target of his insanity? But it is.........

The move is political-to transfer jobs/residents to KC to prop up Kansas economy. That’s all it is.
I don't think it is even that. I think it was just Red Meat for the base.......to SAY it.
Many aren't moving. In the end the cost to the economy and our farmers and competitiveness will be quite large. But that's Trumps way. He got 5 cents on the dollar for the Taj Casino. If he can destroy billions in possible gains to excite some of his base NOW, he'll do it in a minute.

And these people would have the same reaction if it moved to Iowa or a RURAL part of California. It's about the coastal elites never wanting to leave their comfort zone. You know how people from Los Angeles view Bakersfield or Fresno?
