In a bid to upset next week's Israeli election, Netanyahu said he would annex much of the occupied West Bank if returned to power. This would have major implications for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"Mr. Netanyahu said he wanted to seize what he called the “unique, one-off opportunity” afforded him by the Trump administration, which has expressed openness to Israeli annexation of at least parts of the West Bank."

He would proceed with the Jordan Valley immediately after the election. BUT: "Out of respect for President Trump and out of great faith in our friendship, I will wait with applying sovereignty until release of the president's political plan," Netanyahu said. "As much as it is possible, I want to apply sovereignty in the communities and other areas with maximum coordination with the U.S."

Lovely how the United States is drawn into continued ME conflicts. The Kushner Peace Plan should be released after the Israeli elections.

From what I understand it is just an election ploy.

Meanwhile, more rockets tonight were launched from Gaza at Southern Israel and even Mr. Netanyahu had to take a break from a campaign speech.

The ME peace process is pretty much a joke at this point. What a waste of effort.

Didn't Nobel Peace Laureate Obama solve this problem, along with every other problem?

The US should make it clear to Israelis that if the West Bank is annexed and results in a war, the USA will not come to the aid of Israel since it will have provoked the situation.

Sounds like Bibi wants to be able to blame Trump when it goes off the rails.

Peace and the Middle East is an oxymoron. Only divine intervention will create peace. How long has fighting being going on there?
A) since the beginning of time
B) since the dawn of man
C) since sticks and stones
D) All of the above

Due to the nature of preemptive attacks, there should be no land grabs.

If you're talking about the situation at hand, basically since 1948 (or a little earlier).

No I'm not and if you believe this started in 1948 then you have little understanding of human history.
