I had to look up who Emit Till was. Petty people abound. I have seen war memorials vandalized. Memorial statues to fallen firefighters vandalized. Why would Emit Till be exempt from the pettiness?

Killers were found innocent. They later publicly admitted to killing him. The woman admitted she fabricated her testimony.

Hard to come by something more deserving of revisionism than the outcome of that case.

That and it's just asinine and divisive putting up a memorial for it from so long ago. We could put up dozens even thousands of similar memorials where blacks killed a white person. What good purpose would it serve?

I don't think any black killing of a white person served as an event that was part of the changing of the history of this nation, as far as being a catalyst for change. Maybe the the OJ alleged murder. That brought and end to the error where a black person suspected of killing a white person was not an automatic death sentence for the black person....whether he was innocent or guilty.

People do that everywhere even in Canada. Bored kids with booze and guns. It would be ignorant to not note that. Any rural sign is going to end up with bullet holes.
