Are there more racists in America or does social media just make it appear that way? (Obama, work)

As for Trump being unfiltered and it being on the people and not him I don't subscribe to that belief. His words are crafted to play to his base and not the people of this country.
I think you're onto something there....I heard a very astute liberal analyst a while ago telling this liberal panel that they'd better wake up because all of Trump's tweets, speeches, etc were cleverly timed to coincide with certain news cycles. I don't get news cycles so much so I don't know if he's right, but he was certain. The rest of the panel laughed him off.....

The number of people who are racist who don't think they are has skyrocketed.
The term itself is thrown around with reckless abandon. One doesn't have to do or say anything "racist" to be branded with the Scarlet R; just disagreement on certain topics and ideas is enough. Even eye movements, facial expressions or declarations that all people are equal can invite the charge of "racism." The most innocuous things (microaggressions) can be considered "racist".
It's hard to tell where racists on social media are from. Right? Racist can post anything on social media and claim to be from whatever nation they choose and they could fool you into believing them. Right?
There might be an increase in racism here but social media makes it even worse!
It just seem that way, because we didn't always have social media and cell phones to expose these things as they happen. Just imagine all the people before social media and cell phones, who were victims of racism and couldn't prove it, and no one believed them.
It's never gone away, but the Trump era has made it socially acceptable to be openly racist again. More or less since the end of the civil rights era, racism has been frowned on in our culture. Now, it's become a virtue.

Surely you wouldn't dare hang out with Trump supporting deplorables so it would have to be fellow liberals who are the racists who are leading you to believe that "being a racist has become a virtue". Maybe it's time you rethink who you keep company with.
That is what muddies the climate of racism. Is Trump empowering racists to be more vocal and at the same time promoting more numbers by speaking about immigration issues? or is social media making it appear like it's in everyones backyard?
I'll say in my experience if you go an hour outside of any metro area racism towards non caucasians climbs dramatically, but so does the exposure to non white ethnicities. The same is said for metro areas where there are pockets that stick to themselves and choose not to assimilate to our young American ways.
When it comes to hate crime conviction rates whites are not at the top. Are you suggesting Trump is encouraging hate crimes against whites? How so?
