Felicity Huffman was sentenced to 14 days in a federal prison after committing fraud. This is a fine example of class privilege. I remember a local case in my area where a black man stole a loaf of bread to help feed his family. He had no prior record and had recently lost his job. He was sentenced to 6 months in the county prison that is so overcrowded many prisoners were forced to sleep on the floor.

Yes, class privilege probably has something to do with it. Access to better lawyers for sure. But also people need to understand that the US does not have one "justice system."
Different states, different laws. Different sentencing regimes and guidelines. Federal vs. state charges can vary immensely. Heck, in some towns next to each other, one might have a law that another doesn't, resulting in sentencing disparities.
It infuriates me when I see people trying to compare an outcome in a case in, say, Hollywood, with one in rural Alabama. I don't know how to reconcile it across state lines and crime categories.
And her lawyers are requesting that she serve time at FCI Dublin, one of the most posh and comfortable prisons in America.
As just a regular middle class Joe, I know if I got convicted for fraud I'd be sent to the regular slammer with the other bad guys. No "executive prison" for the hoi polloi.
The American elite is completely corrupt and I for one will be shocked, shocked when they get what's coming to them.
All of them?
