Some people who complain about how much money teachers make are the same ones who complain about illegals coming in and taking our jobs. Far be it for them to think they makes too much money themselves. The unions helped them raise their pay so much that they priced themselves out of the job.

Maybe one day teachers will do the same thing. Until that day comes give them what you your self want, more money. Perhaps the day will come were each classroom is monitored by a low wage classroom monitor while instruction is given via a TV screen by an educator in some remote part of the world for less than an onsite teacher gets.

Would there be any harm if clothing brand, a store brand, electronics or car company pay to advertise in schools, or let them sponsor teachers so they can get their much needed raises without it being a burden on tax payers?
Well, maybe they should have not voted for the politicians who promised them the huge pensions. The major cities' school districts are broke because of those.

When did guranteed pay regardless of performance become a good idea?
And why should everyone have a say in how your child is educated (a.k.a.govt education)?

All the years the auto makers were getting raises the cars were not getting better. Yet they still got better pay.

Companies advertising to teachers who have been complaining for decades about insufficient pay? I don't think that's a good idea... All that's needed is better management of the money that is annually budgeted to education; too much corruption and bureaucracy.

Yes there are good and bad teachers, all working side by side in the socialized system of the state. How do we tell the good from the bad? When do the actual customers (parents) get a voice? Dont tell me its when they vote for the admin or the politicians of a given district. That works the same locally as it does on the national stage.
The govt's education system is run without for regard for the people funding them and often times its run at the behest of those who have no children in the system. How can it do that? Because people are forced to pay for it regardless of performance and to opt out makes it twice as expensive and results in sending a child to a school that still has to meet govt standards, which shouldn't be confused with excellence in education.
Someone told me up thread it was idiotic to suggest the privatization of education, does a system run like the local DMV sound intelligent?
The internet has opened a big window into how our schools are operating. How the money is spent. How the Unions care about the Teachers and not the Education of the Children. We’ve learned how truly bad teachers can’t be fired. We’ve learned that some teachers think it’s more important to push political agendas instead of preparing children for their futures. Kids walk out of school to protest, instead of sitting in class to learn. Graduation rates are poor as are scores on basics.

All this knowledge that parents and citizen voters now have are certainly impacting funding.

School funding has always been determined by local taxes. I certainly remember when school bonds would be proposed .... they almost always passed. Teachers were revered and the public wanted good schools, good teachers and for those teachers to be paid.

None of us want to pay for teachers thT protest in the streets against those that pay their salaries. We are also not fond of teachers that can’t be fired for wrong doing OR for some of the indoctrination material that our kids are be “taught” as education.

You think you know the whole story about teacher's unions?

I live in a right to work state. About 1/2 the teachers belong to no union.

Many who do, join the union for legal help should a parent sue them.

Their employers, the school districts, will not provide any legal help.

Public schools are a joke, and no, teachers shouldn't be payed more, they should be payed less. At least that might incentivise them to care.
Whoever taught you to spell should definitely be "payed" less.
