Reuters is reporting that Netanyahu has won a historic 5th term as Prime Minister.
This actually means that his Party won the election and they have already said he was their choice for PM. I guess it's a surprise, because this was a very rough battle and Netanyahu has been in power a long time. I'm actually not surprised - I actually thought Netanyahu would pull this out. It's worth a LOT to have a good relationship with the President of the United States.

Israeli PM Netanyahu wins national election - Reuters

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has won the Israeli national election, securing a record fifth term in office, TV Channel 12 said on Wednesday.

With 96 percent of the votes counted, Netanyahu’s right-wing Likud won 37 of Knesset seats, against 36 for centrist Blue and White, headed by Netanyahu’s rival, former general Benny Gantz.

For those who are interested - The Times of Israel is a pretty middle of the road media. Haartz is very Left wing, Jerusalem Post leans right. The Times has a lot of stories.

I dont think its called yet, but he seems to be winning.

5 terms......clearly they do not have term limits for PMs.

He has been a fine PM, so I assume he will continue to be fine, although the Golan Heights thing could destabilize things in his country. Maybe he'll drop the initiative now that he won the elections.

No guarantee of that. Neither candidate gained enough votes to create a government. The negotiations with the other parties begins now with Netanyahu to appeal to the far right parties to join in order to gain a majority. It'll probably happen though.

He won.

More than 97% votes counted mustered enough votes to control 65 of the Knesset’s 120 seats.
